Many people answer this question with the word money, they are looking for an easy way to make money, others are looking for something for nothing.

The two answers shown above are the reason for high failure rates in online business. some 95% of people running an online business fail.

I will state here and now there is no easy way to make money, to make money online you need three basic elements time, money and effort, together with a good product. Notice the word money is included in other words if you are always looking for something free, you will not succeed.

Free items dominate the internet especially when times are hard, Free is used as a come on, I use it myself to capture new contacts, perhaps that is why your name is on my mailing list, because I gave you something for nothing. The tool or item might me a useful accessory for your business. but it is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to building an online business.

Working online is like a full time job, if you have ever run a business you will know what I mean, there is always something you need to do, you need to work hard to earn an income.

You need to treat any online business as a business, not a hobby, set aside regular times to work. If you can spare only a few hours a day it will take longer to build a good business.

Money can be invested in tools and services to build an online business more quickly, but  you cannot buy success, that is achieved through hard work.

Many people make the mistake of purchasing leads this is a popular mistake. I have worked with companies and being told one of the first things you must do is to sign up for this leads package, this is a load of rubbish, the only good leads are the ones you find yourself.

The first thing you need to do is to select the main keyword or keyword phrase you are targeting and then ensure your content is keyword specific, but do not keyword stuff. Good meta tags are essential to gain top position.

I was on a forum today where there was a discussion about what was the best auto responder and it seems that Aweber has strong support, however I have a different opinion.

The auto responders that I use are Getreply, which is provided free by one of my website host, very functional, form code provided to buid subscriber forms and good tools to manage both subscribers and emails. Veretekk includes very powerful autoresponders in its suite of marketing tools and is far and away the best on the market value for money. You can have unlimited auto responders. The only drawback is that it is difficult to edit the series of emails however there is an expected update due out this year which will rectify the matter. My suggestion is to build a small portfolio of home based business opportunities, with a spread on costs. you need to have a cash cow which will provide you with cash for one off sales together will others that will provide you with residual income.

The next question to consider is what the businesses are going to cost you on a regular basis and what kind of budget you have. Today in a forum I found a post from someone who had gained a top position in Google by accident. he had unknowingly discovered the power of regionalisation, rather than pitting himself self against thousands of other attorneys he had focused on his local market.

He had kept the site simple, The title reflected the keyword phrase, which had good search engine results probability. The metatags description was written with good keyword content. The keyword phrase was also within the first three keywords of the metatag. The actual content on the website was very informative.

Regionalisation is a very powerful technique to target particular markets and if you were to do business in some other location such as Malaysia he could use a similar site, but replacing references to his regionalised keyword phrase.

I have used regionalisation myself and though some might say that duplication is bad, if you are offering similar services in different regions there is nothing wrong with using a similar promotion method, no need to reinvent the wheel, after all most affiliate sites are duplication, but with them you cannot usually correctly format the meta tags.

One has to remember that SEO is always work in progress you always have to provide fresh food for the spiders to retain your position.

Pirates of Borneo have taken over the the former Atlantis Restaurant at the Waterfront, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia !

Pirates of Borneo have spent the last month renovating and improving the former Atlantis Restaurant, which has now reopened as Atlantis Brasserie serving a selection of fish dishes in an intimate cocktail lounge/restaurant.

SEO for a Home based Business, there is a book published somewhere “ SEO: an hour a day,” I have not read it.. My advice on SEO is not to get bogged down in the detail and algorithms. I find the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method works well for my home based business and takes about an hour a day.

I sit down and write about one of my keyword phrases or something that I have come across which is connected with my home based business. Once a draft is complete I revise it , perhaps adding a few keyword phrase to keep the spiders happy, they seem to like keywords right at start and in the last paragraph. Depending how many words I have written I might submit it as an article.

I use the same content to post to three blogs, which in turn will supply RSS feeds to update all my work at home based business websites ( I have a lot).
